Dr. Christy Hayes was born and raised in Saint Louis, went to high school at Hazelwood West and received her Bachelor of Science in Graphic Arts at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. After working at a private optometry/ophthalmology practice during her undergraduate education she decided a career in optometry was her true vocation. Dr. Hayes graduated with her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis in 2011 with Dr. Kim Brown and they joined forces to begin their dream of opening their own practice.
During optometry school Dr. Hayes completed rotations in primary care optometry, specialty contact lenses and ocular disease treatment and management. At graduation, Dr. Hayes was presented with the Contact Lens Clinical Excellence Award.
Dr. Hayes enjoys providing primary comprehensive eye examinations for patients of all ages as well as offering specialty contact lenses for high refractive error, myopia control, abnormal corneas and dry eye syndrome.
Dr. Hayes is also compassionate about providing eye examinations to those in need. She was an active member in the student volunteer organization in school and participated in an international volunteer trip to Thailand in 2010 which provided eye exams and glasses for over 14,000 under privileged people. More recently, in 2015, she went on a mission trip to Cuernavaca Mexico where she was the lead doctor for the mission trip. She also continues to work with the local eye care charity “Kids Vision for Life” twice a month to provide examinations to underserved kids in St. Louis on their mobile eye clinic.
Dr. Hayes is a member of the following professional organizations: American Optometric Association, Missouri Optometric Association and the St. Louis Optometric Association.
In her spare time, Dr. Hayes enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially her daughters Nora and Olivia who you might see running around the office after school.
She is also a HUGE Harry Potter nerd and LOVES to bake.
